At the heart of Grace in Focus lies a mission enriched by faith and community. Founded by Slawfee, a seasoned photographer with over 30 years of experience in community photography in New Jersey, the ministry is built on a foundation of compassion and dedication. Slawfee's journey began with a personal loss—his cherished photo archive was destroyed in a disaster, leading him to understand firsthand the deep emotional impact of losing memories. This loss ignited a passion to use photography as a tool for healing and restoration, ultimately giving rise to Grace in Focus.
Our non-denominational approach weaves spiritual understanding into our services, ensuring solace for individuals of all faiths during their recovery journeys. This inclusion of diverse perspectives fosters a sense of belonging and connection among those we serve. With a special focus on breast cancer survivors, people experiencing homelessness, and youth in crisis, Grace in Focus stands as a beacon of hope for those navigating some of life's most difficult challenges.
Our volunteer photography program is a cornerstone of our ministry, where we mentor individuals to not only hone their craft but also amplify the narratives of resilience witnessed in our communities. By equipping photographers with the skills to capture these profound stories, we expand our network of compassion and witness transformation in their perspectives.
Grace in Focus thrives on promoting empowerment within marginalized communities. As a black-owned organization, we cherish diversity within our leadership, encouraging visibility through our work and efforts. This commitment to representation stands as a testament to our belief in every individual’s worth and potential for healing and renewal.
